I Need to Start Writing Down My Random Thoughts

Because I've had quite a few good ones, and now they're gone.

And, not just singular random thoughts, but thoughts that lead to other thoughts and then it's just a big random train, and I'm grinning and possibly giggling, and my kids, who are in the car with me, are like, "what are you smiling about?" and I'm like, how do I possibly explain this without coming off as a crazy person?

When we're driving somewhere, my husband often asks me what I'm thinking about.

I'm daydreaming, obviously, but do I tell him that I'm daydreaming about how I'm a character in Supernatural, but the character is actually my character that will be in a book one day, and she's just been inserted into an episode (an episode that doesn't exist by the way), or maybe Sam and Dean have been inserted into a chapter of her book? And oh look, the trees along the highway are all pretty and gold!

Yeah, Sam and Dean have messed up royally and now my character has to save their asses. Actually, someone else messed up a spell, but they still need help saving the day.

What I say, of course, is that I'm thinking about how much I enjoy hanging out with the kids.

Saint Belford Planner - Short and Sweet Review

I cannot state how much I love this planner enough!

It focuses on your health and well-being while allowing so much space for actual appointments and tasks and planning, and it's September and I'm still using it.

And maybe I'm not using it to its fullest potential, but I'm getting there, but not using it to its fullest is even okay with the creators because they're all about taking care of you and you don't need to stress yourself out by filling your planner completely.

I love it so much that I signed up for the VIP access, ordered 2024's already, and it's still in it's packaging because I'm being a good girl and it's a Christmas present for me but I soooooooooo very much want to open it now!

Mayhem 30 Hard

I do CrossFit. Not this summer because I'm taking a break (my plantar fasciitis said so).

I start up again in September, and because my gym is a Mayhem affiliate, the Monthly Mayhem challenge is the Mayhem 30 Hard (based off the 75 Hard challenge, which, if you know nothing about it, Google that shit and then applaud everyone who is determined enough to do it because damn, I could not repeatedly set myself up for that much failure. And my colleague who did it looked exhausted. I'm digressing).

It's a challenge designed to test your resolve and self-discipline. And it's a little easier than 75 Hard.

But does that mean I'm going to do it? I mean, I could, but does Mayhem not know that people (or their children) start school in September, so it's not just "here are 7 things you need to accomplish everyday to be worthy complete this challenge", it's "here are 7 things you need to accomplish everyday to be worthy complete this challenge and you need to prepare / help your kids prepare lunches, get them to school, drive them to all their extra curriculars (I love having nerdy introverted children), make supper and do laundry on a regular basis. Also have sex with your significant other. Unless you're so exhausted that all you want to do is cry in the shower and maybe sleep there because the bed is way over there and now that you're in the shower do you really need to get out? Because yeah, I need to add to my existing get-up-at-04:30-go-to-bed-at-22:00-but-you-need-8+-hours-of-sleep day.

This is what we have to do (and what my inside voice thinks about it all):

For the September monthly challenge, we’re doing a condensed version of the 75 Hard program, which you may have heard of.
To successfully complete this challenge, for the next 30 days, you must do ALL of the following EVERY DAY (the notes on this say that this scores a 7, and that if we don't do all of it, score what you did do. Also, you don't have to "start over" like you do in 75 Hard):
  • Complete two 30+ minute workouts (at least one workout MUST be outside) If I do Shavasana for half an hour on the deck and then for half an hour in bed, does that count?
  • Drink 2/3 of your body weight in ounces of water
(For example: if you weigh 200 lbs, you will need to drink a minimum of 133 oz of water each day)
Hahahahahahahahahaha. Wait. Didn't someone die from this? I can get about 60% of this one, but I'm pretty sure that I'm not going to get a 7/7 day.
  • Read 10+ pages in a nonfiction book Do CRA rulings count? Financial Statements? Lavender's Blue is non-fiction, right? I'm learning how to deal with drunk people and escape weddings so it counts.
  • Consume zero alcohol for the entire 30 days The blueberry apple ciders will stay in my fridge for another 30 days. No problemo.
  • Choose any diet and stick with it The notes on this say that even just logging all food everyday, or reaching the goal of no snacks after supper can count. I do actually want to follow the 800g Challenge diet. You do feel amazing on it! But that means that I have to prep salads for work lunches, and not eat just pasta for supper like you do when you answer a kazillion unread emails on your first day back after a holiday whilst putting out Sage fires. Accounting, not brush.
  • No cheat meals Someone I know has a birthday in September, so we all know how that one's going to go.
  • Take a daily progress picture There may not be publishable words for this one.

I'm going to bed now.

This Draft is from May. Or March. Probably March. 5th.

Every time I think I'm going to do better at actually writing. Blogging or not, just writing. At all. It doesn't seem to happen.

I'm using Saint Belford's Planner, and I have to tell you, I love it. It's focused on self care, not do these million things by 3pm. It has a habit tracker in it, and one of those habits should be write something. Other than a financial statement.

Saturday Ski

Cross-Country skiing is great. Until you need to slow down or stop.

Took a new trail yesterday, and on the map the trail is green. IE, easy, gentle slopes if there are any.

I did okay. Enjoyed it even.

Got to the last loop of the trail. Bit of a hill. Okay, I've done green hills before. No problems. I don't need to take the little connector to the flat trail I've taken before, I tell myself. Down I go, and all is going well until the left ski left the track and wouldn't come back in and I had to bail. On my face. Good times.

I get back up with a bit of assistance from someone who has probably been skiing since the beginning of time. I didn't even have to take my skis off! Win for me.

"Oh," she says. "There is a bit of a divot there," and points up the trail a bit.

"Yeah, that was me. That's where I fell." Apologies to everyone else who had to ski that afterwards.

I continue on. The next hill looks just as intimidating. I follow some other newbies across a gap to a nicer looking trail. Fall on my ass stepping down onto the main trail.

I make it to the top of the hill just above the lodge, and even though I know it's okay to ski down (I've done it before, even), I calmly ski into the upper parking lot, remove my skis, and take the stairs.

I log into my fitness app and have a look at my ski. I compare its map to the Ski Trails map. I look a little closer.

The last part of the loop is blue, with yellow high-lighting to show that it's lit up at night. And that looks green. Definitely is not green, though.

It's Been a While

You ever have those days where you want to blog / write, but you feel like it's a guilty pleasure to do so because it's something just for you, and that there are so many other things to do, so you don't?
Apparently I've had over a year of that. Over two years of that.
And then I feel guilty about that,
But then I remind myself that I have done things just for myself these last two years. I've gone to the gym a couple mornings a week which means that my kids have to get up and start getting ready for school on their own.
I've taken dog tracking classes.
I've taken a weekend trip BY MYSELF.
I've focused on health these last two years.
And now I want to add writing to the table.
So I'm not going to feel guilty.

Overtone - Are You Afraid of Stains?

I've answered the Suggested for You ads in FB Land, and have partaken in some Overtone dying of the hair.

Fuck that sounds awkward. It's late. Ten whole minutes before 9pm.

Anyhoo, I started with Extreme Green. My tub looked like a curry took a bath in it.
My hair is a medium-dark blonde with strawberry highlights.
The green took out the red, and made my hair look like a dark blonde.

I then ordered Purple for Brown Hair, and Blue for Brown Hair.
Better results for sure. Purple stays in your hair longer; even after it's all faded out, there's a slight purple undertone to it.
Blue was less likely to stick around, and my husband claims that it makes my hair look grey. As it fades out, it certainly does.
I actually used some Extreme Green (daily conditioner) to colour-correct back to a more natural shade towards the end of the week. That worked out well!

Quick note on the hubby: when we met, I had a horse, got dirty, never wore makeup or painted my nails, etc. etc.
My horse died, and I still get dirty (camping and gardening are great), but now I'm decorating myself for fun. I've discovered great makeup (www.buffd.com), and occasionally like to paint my nails (with as chemical-free a polish as possible), and, now I'm dying my hair. When I have time. Like, once a month or two or three.
So, Hubby is okay with the hair dying as long as I don't go Old-Lady Burgundy.

Purple puts me in danger of being Old-Lady Burgundy.
And makes the tub look like I tried to make wine.

And, if you ever want to stage a "Smurf was murdered and chopped up in the bathtub" event, dye your hair with Blue for Brown.

So then I figured that I'd try Ginger since I have naturally occurring red highlights. Hello, Anne with an "e"!
As it fades (I've stopped using the daily conditioner - I think if I did, I'd still be very orange), it's heading closer to an Auburn.
This one is easier on the tub, by the way.

I now have Golden Brown on order so that I can mix it with some Ginger; maybe I can reach an Auburn.

Regardless, know that if you fuck up with this product, it washes out within a week or so, and that it is truly kind to your hair.

Random Thoughts 2020-03-28

I made a quadruple batch of banana muffins yesterday. With chocolate chips. Got 3 dozen muffins and 1 loaf. 1/2 of the loaf remains.

I'm blaming my mood on PMS, but really it's the stress of trying to keep my kids quiet while Hubby sleeps. He's working nights so that people have shelves full of food to buy.

I think that if my kids were in The Quiet Place, they would die fairly quickly.

Captain's Log 2020-03-27

Captain's log, Spring Break Day 10/10.
Got up. Went pee. Stared at a Giant Black Spider in the bathtub.
Worked out. Canine 2 very upset that she was jailed at the time.
Decided not to make coffee because I wanted to spike it, and I actually have to drive to the office today.
Went to shower. Spider still there. Smelled armpits. Good. God.
Fed Canines instead. Called in Feline from his hunting trip. He came back empty-handed, but didn't eat much, so apparently he self-supplied. Selfish.
It rained on the spider, and it floated down the drain.
Showered, dressed, etc. Checked to see if spider was still gone.
Told myself that I can abstain from spiking coffee.
Made coffee.
Texted Supply Officer a shopping list. Essentials only: milk, crackers, furnace filters.
Made banana-chocolate-chip muffins. Wondered if maybe there is such a thing as too much chocolate chips in a muffin. Not if you make chocolate banana muffins.
We are now out of chocolate chips. Texted Supply Officer.
Drank some coffee.
Started Work-from-Home project.
Argued with Ensign #2 about whether Some Assembly Required is an acceptable show to watch for the 4th time through the series. Not sure why Ensign #2 is arguing with his Captain. Consequences incoming.
Re-analyzing decision to not spike coffee.
Fed both Ensigns muffins for breakfast. Tactical error.
Should have spiked the coffee. 4 hours should be long enough in between alcohol and driving, right?
Continued Work-from-Home project.
Still questioning decision to abstain from spiking coffee, but also not because alcohol and payroll probably wouldn't be an acceptable practice.
Currently eating lunch.

Curried prawns and white blouses don't mix.

Ever.
No matter how careful you are.
Especially when as you sit down you think, 'I'll probably dribble on the last bite.'

You will dribble yellow curry sauce on the third to last bite.
So then you'll Google how do you get curry out of white clothes.

Most popular option is detergent and white vinegar and warm water,  and then you dab at the stain until it works up. Sorta worked. Then I tried straight Forever New (I  have to wash my bras anyway so I might as well dig it out). Worked a bit more.

I should mention that this shirt is new and worn once. IE today.

THEN I found my Pink Solution laundry bar under the sink. Fab-u-lous!

Other things that do not pair well with white tops: all other Indian food, Mexican food, red sauces, coffee, baby vomit, any other food, going outside, children, pets, bleeding noses, and life.

Now I'm rethinking my recent decision to replace half of my wardrobe with white blouses.

Random Thoughts 2018-01

I have boys. When they were born, I was a tiny bit relieved that they were boys simply because at the time I was not and never had been a girly girl, and girls scared me with all of the girly-girl stuff and the teenage hormones.
Then I hit 40, turned a bit more girly-girl, and wouldn't mind doing some of the girly-girl stuff (as long as it's not brain-cell killing) with a daughter.
But I have boys.
I also have a steady stream of pee all over my bathroom. Because pee shooting straight out from your penis to the back of the toilet is really funny. Apparently.

I baked those boys some cookies, and when I was putting the sugar bag back up on the top shelf, it tipped over and started spilling. A good portion landed in my bra, and two hours later it's still driving me crazy, which is making me question all of those sex-on-the-beach scenes. I mean really, who are they kidding? Never going to happen and be a good time.

I hate being sick. Nothing gets done. But those drug-induced dreams would make for a great fantasy novel.

Riverdale

Holy f£ck Riverdale got hot in modern times!

As in Archie and Betty and Veronica.

Or something.

New series on Netflix, and I'm not even through an episode yet, but so far beaucoup de sex, murder, and bitchy teen girls.

And some Luke Perry.

But . . . I can honestly say that curiosity killed the brain cells.

Monday's Muse 2016-12-05. And Some Random Shtuff.

I have nothing snarky, today. Probably because for once I'm not tired, exhausted, fatigued, or bitchy. Yes, I need that much redundancy; it all applies equally and differently.

I was cleaning off my dresser yesterday because I thought that maybe it's a bit unfair to require my children to keep their rooms clean when mine is a disaster. I mean, washing, drying, and folding-ish my clothes is sometimes too much, never mind actually putting it away.

That, and my blouses were getting wrinkly. And, I couldn't find a pair of socks. I mean, sure, I could find 15 socks, but none of them actually matched. Although there were a couple days that I didn't care. Okay, more than a couple.

I digress.

I found a book called 642 Things to Write About by the San Francisco Writers' Grotto.

I bought it in either February 4th or April 2nd, 2015. The receipt's still in it. I think I've looked at it every now and then, and probably thought, "these might be good writing exercises." At least someone else would be coming up with the ideas.

All I seem to be able to think about lately is kid stuff, like laundry and lunches and getting out the door on time in the mornings and seriously if you don't stop wrecking your toys I'm going to give them all away and what sticky mess did you just touch me with?
Except for when I'm driving. I come up with some pretty cool writing ideas when I'm driving, but I can never remember what was making me laugh out loud all by myself in the car. Or, maybe I'm just crazy. Whichever.

So then I thought, since my usual Muse seems a bit busy lately, and even though I could go on and on and on and on and on about some of the really bad writing I've had the gag me pleasure of reading (BMBR's coming to a computer near you real soon. Or not. You've seen my track record!) lately, how about I use this book as my muse for a while?

642 things. One thing a week. That would only take - -no that can't be right - 12.35 years? 😅😭

Oh. No. Not Monday's Muse.

Wednesday's Writers' Workshop.

Because I could go on and on and on and on about some of the "SRSLY" how the eff did you get published? crap out there. (And yes, seriously must be spelled this way in this instance.) So I don't want to get rid of Monday's Muse just yet.

Topic One, from Page One: What can happen in a second.

See you Wednesday!

Crickets May Have Been Chirping

So, uh, it's been a while. September. Wow. Oh sure, I posted a quickie in December, but I'm not sure that i can really count that, so, again, wow.

At least I've been shaving my legs more often. I only say that because one time I logged on to a Facebook account, saw that it had been six weeks since my last log-in, and then I looked down and realized that my legs had suffered the same fate. So, yay, been shaving my legs. A little more often than I've been blogging.

I'm supposed to be doing payroll for a client right now, but I'm thinking that that will happen in the morning because a bath and a Jack Reacher novel and a glass of wine are much more desirable uses of my time. And, I have to shave my legs, so...

See you soon, I promise.

Random Thoughts 2015-07-25

Really, I have nothing. Nothing at all.

Except maybe cloudy thoughts, which match the weather today, swirling in my head, trying to come up with something to write.

Hey, didn't I get that book, the one that gives you 600+ things to write about? (Looks around house. Mentally.) Yeah, I'm not sure where it is, so maybe tomorrow I'll do something from that.

Have you seen or heard of that tidying book that will change your life? the life-changing magic of tidying up: the Japanese are of decluttering and organizing by Marie Kondo. It's awesome. I did clothes. Then I did toys (added that category). My kids' toys. Hmm. Maybe I should do my toys next...

The next topic is books. I will do the kitchen first.

I got married last weekend. Officially, not common-law-y. Someone at worked did that finger-shame-on-you thing because we've been "living in sin" for 9 years and 2 kids already. Maybe I was a virgin until last weekend? With 2 kids. And toys. Yeah, maybe not.

Then same person tsk-tsked all the single parents in his neighbourhood. I told him life happens, and not everyone is perfect. Mentally I may have been telling him to fuck off a little.

It's noticeably darker earlier at night, now. Sure, we can convince the kids to go to bed a little earlier now, but it's also harder to stay up later ourselves. Not that we're ever not tired by nine, anyway, so moot point, perhaps.

I'm trying to find out if we can house chickens in our backyard. The egg-laying kind, not the alarm-clock kind. What I read in the bylaws, and what "friends" tell me are two different things, so I'm going to see what the city tells me.

I was out of my office for 2 hours yesterday, and left my phone in my office. My mom phoned me six times while I was out. Six. One message. You know what she wanted? To know what kind of pizza she should get for the boys etc. Really? My grandmother has a terminal illness and you phone six times about pizza? Then when I was checking the message, she phoned a 7th time to tell me that she ordered whatever and was going to pick it up. Seven. Seven times about pizza. So not an emergency. Fucking freaked me out a little. I hope that should something happen to Grandma, she'd think to phone work if I didn't answer my cell phone.

Erg.

I should water my orchid. Every time I do I must put it back facing a different direction because it's spiraling nicely. Kind of like my life. Not out of control, but definitely not in a straight line, either.

I haven't done a BMBR lately. I have been reading. Hmmm. Tomorrow.

I'm looking out my front window right now, and I'm kinda wishing that I could see in to the neighbours' windows. No reason. Just bored.

Random Thoughts 2015-06-10

You can buy a kid a really cool remote-controlled car, or even a BMX bike, but he's still going to: see if he can cram his 5 year-old self into the box the car came in.

Intentions for 2015

Jennifer Crusie is right. New Year's Resolutions just put pressure on you to actually have will power, energy, and the ability to complete tasks.

Who actually has that?

Intentions are so much better.

I intend to write more.
Check. It only took ten days to complete this post. Actually, at the time of writing this very sentence, I cannot guarantee that I will actually complete this post.

I intend to have more sex with my husband.
Or with myself. Or with my BOB. Either way. Orgasms every day, please.

I intend to keep my house tidier.
Ha!
I have a 2 and 4 year old boy! I hope you didn't fall for that one!

I intend to enjoy every moment with my children and my husband.
Even when they're being whiny, throwing temper tantrums, and running their syrup-covered hands down the hall walls on the way to the bathroom.
My husband is in no way included in the sentence directly above this one.

I will lose some weight. And/or get into better shape.
I'd be happy with five pounds for the year, at this point, because let's face it: I gained weight in 2014.

I intend to paint the inside of my house this year.
Which leads me to:

I intend to get my house organized and de-cluttered.
Please see the third intention, above.

I intend to go camping with my family more.
And, not the kind of camping where you drag a house behind your truck, park it next to a million other trailers beside a major highway. The kind of camping where there's one other family camping on the other side of the lake, and you may hear a logging truck go by once in awhile. Oh, and you're sleeping in a tent, and if you're lucky, the floor to the outhouse won't be completely rotten, just a little rotten.

I intend to not let my mom's micro-management bother me.
Starting now.
Or maybe tomorrow.

I intend to laugh more, especially with my children and my husband.
This seems more reasonable than the fourth intention, above.

I intend to not let my whiny little bitch out.
I'd like to add ever on to the end of that, but I may have to give her one PMS day per month. But only one. Because, a week or two is probably driving everyone around me a little bit crazy. I know it's driving me crazy. And then I just feel guilty, so I cry more, etc. etc. Bitch.
Okay, she gets one day per month for the first six months (starting in February. Ahem.), then that's it. The skank is getting cut out of the family.

I think that these are all doable. And, I should be able to stay sane during the process.

Random Thoughts 2014-10-31

Happy Halloween!

I got tired of struggling to get K1 out the door in the mornings, so I decided to give him some responsibilities for the mornings. I was thinking that getting up without whining, getting dressed, going potty, and making sure that he had his favourite blankie would be great responsibilities for a 4yr old. I asked him what he thought his responsibilities should be. His response was, "I think that my responsibilities should be sleeping in the mornings."

Oh sure, I know that really, he only thinks that for weekdays. These guys don't believe in sleeping in on weekends. Ever.

I made an egg-nog cheesecake last night for no reason. I froze most of it. Don't be jealous.

I want to do the NaNoWriMo thing. 50k words in a month, and it's just a rough draft. So, basically, verbal diarrhea that gets cleaned up later.

If I do it on weekends, that's only 5000 words per day. What is that, like 10 pages? I can do that. I just have to let something else go:
1. Housework. My mom would freak out, but she judges as it is so I have to ask if I really care.
2. Kids. Nope. Try number one, above.
3. Cooking. Uh, no. Gotta eat or I get cranky. Gotta feed the kids or they get fucking whiny. Can't afford to eat out all the time unless I give something up like housing, so no.
4. Work. Kinda like living in a house and being able to heat it in the winter, thanks.
5. Exercise. I'm way too fat and out of shape to give that up. I should probably start, though.
6. Sleep. See number 3 above.
7.  Hubby time. He's really good in bed, so no.

I guess someone else can clean my house. And maybe cook. But I'd still have to do most of the writing at night, which would interfere with numbers 6 and 7. I might be able to combine 5 and 7 to save time...

I'm also really tempted to do it using my favourite muse.

That would be super fun. Coming soon: a book about white-ass vampires who have struggling writing careers in New York, but really they're also aliens who come from a planet that not only has one culture on their entire planet, but they also have the exact same political issues that we do! Sounds so totally awesome, I know.

I'm looking forward to the kids' gymnastics tomorrow. Especially K2's parent and tot. I love it when he freaks out and smashes his face to the floor and cries and screams because he's overwhelmed or frustrated or just plain isn't allowed to do exactly what he wants right now. Yup. I'm that parent with that kid. Fuck me I'm not looking forward to that. I have enough PMS on my own right now, thank you very much.

Breville is going to kick Kitchenaid's ass.

Well, my random thoughts are starting to go to sleep. Ciao.

Random Thoughts 2014-08-26

Trying blogger on my phone for the first time. I may or may not like it. It should make it easier to blurt out my random thoughts before I forget what they were. Sometimes they're really good and they make me laugh and I think that you might laugh, too, but then after a long day at work--where I don't post because I'm paranoid that work can see what I'm typing. Actually that's not the paranoia.  I KNOW that they can see what I'm doing online.  I'm paranoid that they ARE looking at what I'm doing online--and after a long evening of trying to get some wonderful but very busy and testy kids fed, bathed, clothed, cuddled, fed again, cleaned up, clothed again and in bed, and then after a long night of more work, I get to try to blog and I sit at my computer and try to keep my head from falling off my shoulders and I can't for the life of me remember what I had for supper, let alone what it was that made me laugh in the morning.

So I'm trying this on my phone.

What kinds of random thoughts do I have and then can't remember, you ask? Well, just this morning I was putting some canned chicken on my salad for lunch, and as I was putting the leftovers in a container I had a brief thought of just throwing the chicken in with my eggs and doing scrambled instead of basted on toast, and then I thought, I wonder what chickens would think about that? Would they think, hey, isn't it bad enough that you eat us, and our babies? Do you really have to eat us wrapped up in our children? (It didn't sound that gross in my head.) But then I thought, how would the chickens know what's going on in my house? I went with basted on toast, regardless.

I wonder what pigs would think if they knew that they were wrapped up in baby chicken omelettes all the time.

OH MY GOODNESS! ! Outlander is on Showcase. I set it to record the series. It didn't. Thank goodness Showcase repeats their episodes a lot. I will get to see the first episode, I reset the series recording, and I don't have to kill my cable box in a fit of rage (no anger management issues here).

I've been trying to cut back on the caffeine. It's not like I drink a lot of coffee--I only make four cups of half regular and half decaf, which is one travel mug and one large-ish table mug of coffee. So maybe I'm not cutting back on the coffee so much as I am cutting back on the cream that goes in the coffee.

This is probably a good thing because I don't use that half-and-half stuff that just waters down the coffee; I use the 18 percent (I had to spell that out because in the last phone update the third page of symbols disappeared and apparently the percent symbol was on it. Fucking Android) cream which adds a creamy richness to the flavour and the texture of the coffee. It also adds to the richness of my hips and ass, so I'm cutting back on the coffee.

I know what you're thinking: you can just cut the cream out of the coffee. Yes. I could. But then I'd be tempted to add more sugar and that just makes my face explode. Tea is more palatable black than coffee is. In my opinion, of course.

So I've been trying out Lady Grey tea. I love Earl Grey tea, and now I'm in love with the lady. Yum.

One small problem:

Despite the caffeine, which does perk me up eventually, while I'm drinking it and for thirty minutes afterwards, I feel like napping. I don't mean I'm a little drowsy. I mean I look and feel like I'm going to pass out. Or like I'm stoned, maybe.

This tea is soothing. It would be the perfect tea to sip on when putting my feet up while I'm reading a nice relaxing book, maybe even in the tub.

Not too sure when that will happen though...

K1 brought me I Love You Forever by Robert Munsch for his bedtime story. I was crying by the time the kid turned nine.

It's been pretty smokey around here lately, what with forest fires etc. It finally started raining today, and I thought, yay, some of that smoke is going to go away. And it did. Until some rain must have quenched a few fires. Ever pour water on to a campfire? Yeah. Super smokey.

K1, K2 and Cousin were in the back yard swinging last night. K2's only 18 months, but heaven help Grandma if she didn't push him as high as the other two in a big boy swing!! He was flexing his hands pretty well when he got off, ha ha. No fear, these kids. Not necessarily a good thing.

Even for me, my mantra of "They'll only do it once" is getting a bit sketchy, especially when they're leaning out the window in their 6' high play house (K1 actually leaned out a bit too far last week; the stools at the bottom broke his fall nicely. Really glad that Grandma wasn't here for that one).

I can still see some of my desk, and I'm happy with that.

You ever have someone help you out with something, and they go overboard (maybe to prove how inferior you are about doing the same thing, subconsciously, but still) to the point that they wear themselves, and then they just get this pissy, bitchy martyr thing going?

I'm debating whether to watch something (entirely for me because everyone, and I do meant everyone, else is in bed) or to continue reading (I've discovered Catherine Bybee on Kindle--I honestly meant to check and see if she had books at the library but I kinda forgot (in the seven seconds it took to download the $2 ones--honestly, I forgot that I was going to log in and see if the library carried her! But, we all know that I have a slight problem...) while I eat some leftover Tiramisu cake. Either way, the cake's going down.

I hate Facebook. Mostly because of the folks who try to prove their point while at the same time proving that they didn't pay attention in school on the day that the teacher was talking about apostrophes. I can't fucking take you, or your cause, seriously if your grammar is worse than mine.

And, stop guilting me for not passing on your little cause-photo by shaming me into doing it. That shit just makes me want to say "Fuck off". If I want to share your photo enough to risk getting a virus, I'll fucking click Share. On my own. Thanks.

I get enough guilt trips at home. Yeesh.

Well, off to read. And eat cake.
